Tactical Trends: International Equity Slips Below 20D Price Support

Price breadth fell; low vol, value, and EM held relative ground

As of June 26, international equity drove the price breakdown across the ETF universe, with developed ex-US and Asia-linked ETFs accounting for most of the new crosses below the 20-day moving average (20D MA). Only 25 of 59 ETFs (42%, -11.9pp) sit above their 20D MA, while 44 of 58 (76%, unchanged on the day) hold above their 20-day ratio moving average vs S&P 500 SPY (20D ratio MA vs SPY). US equity, Brazil, India, quality, and equal weight define the price leaders; developed ex-US, South Korea, Taiwan, and China define the laggards, producing a 33pp price-relative gap. The equity tape is split between falling price participation and relative leadership anchored in low volatility, value, quality, and selected ex-US catch-up themes.

Fixed income recovered in price across 15 of 17 ETFs and kept its relative winners vs Aggregate Bonds AGG in Treasuries IEF and long-duration TLT, plus mortgage-backed and intermediate investment-grade credit. High-yield, EM debt, short duration, and inflation-linked bonds lagged the benchmark. The bond move is a duration-led price recovery with selective credit participation.

Specialty relative breadth vs S&P 500 SPY fell to 9 of 15 ETFs (60%, -6.7pp) and concentrated leadership in biotech, infrastructure, REITs, and Min Volatility USMV. Semiconductors SMH, gold, bitcoin, and managed futures lagged the benchmark, and silver plus broad commodities weakened on a relative basis. The specialty and commodity mix favors defensive equity substitutes over macro hedges and hard assets.
